Friday Aug 18, 2023
Friday Aug 18, 2023
Fr. Francis Solanus Casey, was born in 1870, in Wisconsin, and died July 31, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan. He was a Capuchin Franciscan priest. He lived most of his life in Detroit Michigan, and one of his main tasks was to be the porter at St. Bonaventure’s Monastery. His body lays today at the Solanus Casey Center in Detroit. Today I share some spiritual reflections based on some of the events in the life of Blessed Solanus Casey, as well as some of his spiritual teachings. I talk about his vocational discernment, his devotion to the Virgin Mary, some of his miracles, his patience, his humility and above all, his teaching that when we ask for graces from God, we should “Thank God ahead of time!”

120 Married Couples are the Bulwark of Society
Friday Jul 21, 2023
Friday Jul 21, 2023
Married couples are the bulwark of society. Without married couples, society would fall apart and the Catholic Church would be in a serious crisis. Sacramental Marriage has certain God-given characteristics, or “goods”, and some responsibilities. In this episode we speak about how marriage is one and indissoluble, a life-long commitment that requires mutual fidelity of the spouses, openness to life (which includes the education and Christian formation of the children), and a concern of each spouse for the physical, emotional and, above all, spiritual well-being both of the other spouse and of their children.

117 Effects of the Sacrament of Marriage
Friday Jun 30, 2023
Friday Jun 30, 2023
Today I talk about the effects of the sacrament of Matrimony, particularly, the marriage bond and the graces it gives to fulfill the responsibilities of the spouses. The Catechism states that from a valid marriage arises a bond between the spouses which by its very nature is perpetual and exclusive. That, moreover, the spouses are strengthened and consecrated for the duties and the dignity of their new state.

113 The Sacrament of Marriage, a Treasure in the Church
Friday Jun 02, 2023
Friday Jun 02, 2023
Louis and Zelie Martin, the parents of St. Therese of Lisieux, are a model of Christian marriage. Today we look at their example and seek their inspiration, as we delve into the great treasure of the Sacrament of Marriage, how, according to the nature God gave it, it is between one man and one woman, for their entire lifespan, for the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children. When the spouses are baptized, this reality of marriage is a sacrament, which—when validly celebrated and consummated—no human being can break apart. May we have many holy and stable marriages in the Church!
