53 In the Catholic Church, You Are Never Alone
Friday Mar 18, 2022
Friday Mar 18, 2022
In today’s episode we talk about how the Church Christ is the Mystical Body of Christ, and as members of it, we are all members of Christ and members of one another. There is a communion of goods and a communion of people. There are three stages in the one Catholic Church: those that are in Heaven, those that are in Purgatory, and those that are still on this earth. We consider the example of St. Thomas More, who was strengthened in his last moments by the thought of the saints and angels in Heaven, contemplating his fidelity and cheering him on. We also consider how St. Therese of Lisieux said “I want to spend my heaven in doing good on earth”, reminding us that the saints continue to help us while being in the presence of God.

48 “In five hours I will see Jesus” - The Story of Jacques Fesch
Friday Feb 11, 2022
Friday Feb 11, 2022
In today’s episode we talk about how the Holy Spirit worked in the life of a French young man called Jacques Fesch, who lived in France from 1930 to 1957. He was convicted for killing a policeman, and condemned to death at the guillotine. His conversion and spiritual growth in prison were miraculous. The last entry in his journal, before going to his death read “In five hours, I will see Jesus”. I welcome a guest, Fr. John of God, who is a priest of Miles Christi, to discuss the personal experiences of Jacques Fesch, and his relationship with God, the Faith and his immediate family.
Fr. John of God joined Miles Christi in 2006, and was ordained a priest on April 9, 2016. He has been in our community of Michigan as the director of the formation of our students to the priesthood for several years now.

47 The Unsung Hero – The Holy Spirit
Friday Feb 04, 2022
Friday Feb 04, 2022
In today’s episode we speak about the Holy Spirit, and how He works silently and unnoticeably to vivify the Catholic Church, and to sanctify our souls. He is the unsung hero of our salvation. The Holy Spirit builds, animates and sanctifies the Church. So, as some ancient writers have said, the Holy Spirit is like the soul of the Catholic Church. Besides the Holy Spirit sanctifies the individual soul, first moving it to believe, to embrace the faith, and then, little by little, to grow in Faith, Hope and Love, leading it to bear fruits of holiness. The Holy Spirit is the master of prayer, because He teaches us to pray as we ought (Romans 8:26).
Some Bible texts that we quote in this episode: The Mystery of the Annunciation (Lk 3:22). The Baptism of Jesus (Lk 3:22). The Holy Spirit similar to the force that makes the crop grow in the field (Mark 4:26-33). The wind blows where it wills (John 3:8). At the last Supper (John 14:16-17). How Jesus promised to send the H.S. (Jn 14:26). Baptize in the Name of the Trinity (Mt 28:19). The coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost (Acts 1:8). The Holy Spirit teaches us how to pray and aids us in our weakness (Romans 8:26).
Numbers from the Catechism: #731-747
Here is a great prayer to the Holy Spirit:
“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray: O God, who instructed the hearts of Thy faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us by that same Spirit, to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”

46 How can I become a SAINT - The Holy Spirit at work
Friday Jan 28, 2022
Friday Jan 28, 2022
In today’s episode we speak about the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, and how it is thanks to Him that we can be saints! We discuss how He was revealed in the Scriptures, the Names by which He is referred to, the symbols used to express His different qualities, and finally we will briefly talk about how He works in the Church and in the individual soul. I will talk about the life of Bl. Carlo Acutis and St. Francis Xavier, as examples of how the Holy Spirit can work miracles of conversion in people that were just as human as you and me.
Some of the texts we quote in this episode: How the Holy Spirit [H.S.] was present in the story of the Creation (Genesis 1:1). The Theophany of Mamre (Genesis 18:1-15). How the H.S. worked through king Saul (1 Sam 10:10). The Mystery of the Annunciation (Lk 3:22). The Baptism of Jesus (Lk 3:22). How Jesus promised to send the H.S. (Jn 14:26). The coming of the H.S. on Pentecost (Acts 1:8). The H.S. teaches us how to pray (Romans 8:26).
Here is the prayer I shared during the episode:
“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth Thy Spirit, and they shall be created. And Thou shalt renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray. O God, who instructed the hearts of Thy faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us by that same Spirit, to be truly wise, and ever to rejoice in His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
